PRESS & MEDIA

Press review

For many years, the scientific community shared research results in scientific journals, which were almost unreachable for the general population. At the beginning of my career as researcher, I was really surprised to notice one of our papers in Proceedings of the Royal Society B attracted massive media attention.

This interest is explained by an April 1 report by the BBC in 2009, which reported our findings on arithmetic calculation in 3-day old domestic chicks. The BBC’s April Fool’s tradition backfired onto us, and I realized for the first time how much our daily work in the lab could interest the general public.

Since then, dissemination by the media has been a part of my job, along with national and international media discussions of our research result.

Some of this media attention includes

Canada’s CBC radio and CBC online
China’s Kemayixian, UUX
Denmark’s Ingeniøren, Videnskab
France’s Le Monde, Sciences et Avenir
Germany’s Allgemeine Zeitung, Der Spiegel, Die Welt, Frankfurter Allgemeine, Leipziger Volkzeitung
